So as far as me personally there is nothing to report yet except a lot of nausea yesterday where I had just started taking the new med. I have to give it a bit before I can expect to see any difference.
Marijuana seems to be the new topic of discussion. Especially here in Canada where it is about to become legal. The new craze however, is the CBD oil (cannabidiol). It has been hailed as the new miracle drug. More research is being done now on the benefits of marijuana and CBD than ever before. This seems to be part of the reason why it is about to become legal. In the U.S. only is certain States is the CBD legal. Here you can purchase it if you have a prescription. But there are many non-medical distributors that are popping up just selling the CBD oil and they are becoming very popular.
CBD is the major nonpsychoactive component of cannabis sativa. It is one of over 60 compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class called “cannabinoids.” THC (tetrahdrocannabinol) has previously been the focus because it produces mind-altering effects in users, but CBD is also present in high concentrations.
Research is being done to determine the use of CBD to treat diseases. It has anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antipsychotic, antioxidant, neuroprotective and immunomodulatory effects. That covers a heck of a lot of diseases. In the U.K and Canada Sativex, a M S drug made from a combination of THC and CBD is approved to treat M S pain.
It is believed the oil can treat neurodegenerative disorders such as:
- Alzheimer’s Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Parkinson’s Disease
As well as an anti-seizure for epilepsy. There are clinical trials being done for patients with schzophrenia with a remarkable safety profile. Pre-clinical studies sponsored by the National Institute of Health show CBD oil as relieving symptoms of:
- chronic pain
- M S pain
- spinal cord injuries
Researchers also believe it may change the way the brain’s receptors respond to seretonin which is a component of the majority of mental illnesses. They believe the oil can be used for:
- reducing stress
- decreasing psysiological effects of anxiety, such as increased heart rate.
- improve symptoms of PTSD
- improving sleep for those with insomnia
- more energy
- reducing cognitive impairment
The National Cancer Institute says that CBD may help alleviate cancer symptoms and cancer treatment side-effects. CBD has the effect of reducing the ability of some types of tumor cells to reproduce. Research is still being done too determine the possible side -effects of the CBD oil.
I can only assume that I have pretty well established my view on the stuff. I have been using it for well over a year for chronic pain in my legs. It did wonders for me. As an extra bonus I stopped having to take anxiety meds every day. I rarely take them anymore. I am not able to give you a pin point as to why…I just feel better.
Please DO NOT run out and start taking the oil just because I said it works for me! Different people may react differently to it and I can only give you personal experiences. If you plan on purchasing it from one of the small distributors…make sure to check them out and make sure you are getting quality oil. I believe advances will be made medically as more research is done. So that is just my 2 cents opinion. I swear by it but I know my opinion is not shared by everyone. But then again I have never come across anything that does not have opposing opinions.
